Clifton Park Soccer Club, Inc.
Minutes of May 18, 2004

The next meeting is at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15th.

PRESIDENT: There is to be no activity at Parkside on Saturdays until further notice. We have not received applications from all of our teams for the CP Tournament. Go to the web site, print out an application, fill it out and submit it to Al Shibley ASAP. Clifton Park teams must fill out an application to participate in our tournament. Also some teams have not submitted their team rosters to go with their team photo for the tournament book. Please send these to Janet at acm2ej@aol.com. Tickets are still available for the bus trip to see Manchester United play at the Meadow Lands on July 31st. Tickets cost $55, which includes the bus ride. The bus will leave from the Commons parking lot around 8:30 AM and return home around 7 PM. Kickoff is 1 PM. Call Peter at 371-5369 if you are interested.

PREMIER LEAGUE: Games are running smoothly. NE Region managers, as well as CPSC coaches, please let Mich know if your games are cancelled or rescheduled so that fields can be reassigned.

CDYSL: Nothing to report.

REGISTRAR: Nothing to report.

TOURNAMENT: Al reported that 10 to 12 teams will have to be dropped for this years tournament. We will have a total of 152 to 155 teams participate. We still need some U-8 teams, as of now we only have the four CP teams. U-8 coaches please recruit some teams. Accepted teams will be listed on the Club’s web site soon. All games for the U-8 and U-10 age group will be played at the school Campus fields only. This will add one more large field to the Commons this year. A number of tournament games will be played at the Commons on Friday evening. Team registration and the mandatory coaches meeting will be held at the Comfort Suites in Clifton Park on Friday, July 9th at 8 PM.

VOLUNTEER: Liz still has one team that has not returned their volunteer sign up list for the tournament, everyone else good job.

COACHING COMMITTEE: Coaches, it is your responsibility to remove the stakes holding your goals, return the flags and move the goals off the lines after your games. If you move goals for practice, they should be moved off the line after practice. We need your cooperation to allow for a smooth, uninterrupted operation when the fields are lined. You can now get a Permission to Travel approval by going online to www.enysoccer.com, click on the travel authorization button and follow the instructions. There are only three night games scheduled for June, the 4th, 11th and 18th. The U-19 girls have won their first two rounds of 2004 State Cup play.

ADULT LEAGUE: Bill needs about 4 to 6 more players. Other commitments are causing some teams to be short players for the Monday night games. Adding some players should help with this. The league is looking to stay together for the Summer as a pick up league only. If you’re interested, contact Bill at bill@villaj.com or 383-3185.

INDOOR: Last weekend coming up. Minimal complaints this year, good job and thank you to the coaches and players. On March 13th the color guard was using the Gowana gym, which was a scheduled practice for our teams. Frank will check to make sure we do not get charged for this time.

OLD BUSINESS: Nothing to report

NEW BUSINESS: Liz inquired about having a defibrillator available at the Commons. Peter gave Liz the go ahead to check into this. If one is obtained we would need to train people in the proper use of the defibrillator. Kris Clemens asked if teams could get their tournament checks sooner than next month? Karl indicated if a team is in a bind, contact him and he could issue your team a check. Reminder that if your team was not represented at all the monthly meetings, you will not get a check for the full amount. Peg Hopkins asked if there was any rule that would prevent teams from traveling to an away game if the opposing team knows in advance that it will not have enough players? A CP team traveled to LI for a State Cup game and when they arrived the LI team had only 7 players and the coaches knew this in advance. They wouldn’t forfeit and played the game with 7 players. Peter stated by rules you must have at least 7 players to play and teams that forfeit State Cup now have to pay a $500 fine and it could affect next years State Cup entry for that Club. So there isn’t much you can do but play. Peg said they did and the girls won.
