Clifton Park Soccer Club, Inc.
Minutes of arch 23rd, 2004

The next meeting is at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20th.

PRESIDENT: Team photos were delivered to coaches. By the next meeting every team must submit a list of the players in the photo to Janet Cody for use in the Tournament program book. Please list players starting with the back row, going from left to right. The Commons is not open for use until April 1st, with the exception of scheduled State Cup or Premier League games. After April 1st a decision will have to be made about the fields. Check the web for updates. A co-ed adult soccer league has been formed for Clifton Park. The league runs from May thru June. Games will be played on Monday evenings at the Commons. It will be friendly play for fun and fitness. For additional information you can go to the following web page: http://cpsrsl.vilaj.com

PREMIER LEAGUE: Games are being scheduled for the Commons, including State Cup games. Game schedule and field assignments will be posted on the board by the Club House

CDYSL: The Mandatory coaches meeting for CDYSL’s Spring League start this weekend, U-12 and older teams will be held on Saturday, March 27th, U-8 & U-10 teams will be held Monday, March 29th and for those who miss, a third meeting will be held Tuesday, March 30th. CDYSL did not meet this month, nothing else to report.

REGISTRAR: Nothing to report.

TOURNAMENT: We have received over 50 applications so far. This year we are experimenting with allowing teams to apply online. Reminder, all Clifton Park teams must fill out an application if they plan on playing in the Tournament. Team Ad and Volunteer Coordinators are in action, coaches please give them help and support. Remind your parents of their volunteer commitment to the CPSC. The U-8 and U-10 age groups will be non-competitive this year. We have struggled a bit getting teams in these age groups, so please play up the Tournament and recruit teams when you’re out there.

VOLUNTEER: The Volunteer Coordinators meeting will be held this Sunday, March 28th and Tuesday, March 30th at 7 PM in the Club House. Every team should have a representative and they need to attend this meeting.

COACHING COMMITTEE: Please bring exact change to pay your referee fees. Bring separate envelopes for each referee when using a three-person system. Do not expect referees to have change on hand. Referee rates for this season are available from Mich. Region 1 and the NE Region 1 Premier Leagues are requiring three person systems for games. Reminder that Clifton Park coaches who are signed up for coaching classes or licensing courses have to notify and request approval from the coaching committee if they want to get reimbursed from the Club for the cost of these classes. Peter pointed out that CDYSL is proposing to require all coaches hold at least an E or F license. If the demand is large enough, we could host a course here for our coaches. Sufficient numbers would be about 20 candidates. We could use the Club House and the lighted field if necessary. This would be a very economical way to provide this training, as it is more expensive at Afrim’s and Charbonneau’s with the facility rental cost included. Please contact Peter or Mich if you are interested.

INDOOR: Last weekend coming up. Minimal complaints this year, good job and thank you to the coaches and players. On March 13th the color guard was using the Gowana gym, which was a scheduled practice for our teams. Frank will check to make sure we do not get charged for this time.

OLD BUSINESS: Nothing to report

NEW BUSINESS: We have 30 new officials for the upcoming Rec league. The rec schedule is still not finalized; the Commons will be in use on Saturdays until about 2:30 PM. Expect crowded fields and parking. Longkill Park will also be used for the rec program, be aware that it will be in full use on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Question was raised on outdoor practice times? Peter announced we would now have two standard times. Practices will run from 5 to 6:30 and 6:30 to 8 PM. Peter also announced the Board is looking at making some changes within the Club. We are looking at no U-12 Premier teams starting next season. The U-10 and U-12 programs will be under the direction of one head coach, who will coordinate all the training and work with the individual team coaches. We are looking to establish consistency in the Club’s training and raise the improvement level of all players. It is very important to offer the same opportunity to all of our players at the younger age levels. Next season it looks like CDYSL may go to 4v4 for the U-8 Divisions. The CPSC will probably go with an in-house league and look to establish a head coach for this age group as well.
