Clifton Park Soccer Club, Inc.
Minutes of January 20th, 2004
The next meeting is at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24th.
PRESIDENT: Team placement forms were delivered to CDYSL last
Friday. CDYSLs target date for Final team placements is February
20th. They will be posting preliminary placement results on their website,
http://www.cdysl.org/ . Check the site frequently for placement results
and if your team is not placed in the Division you intended, coaches
will be responsible for contacting CDYSL as instructed to appeal your
placement. Fields will be laid out similar to last season. We have requested
to continue with some open fields on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays
and also requested to have more Sunday games played at the Commons.
Lights will be available for night games in April. Coaches need to get
agreement from the visiting coach for a game under the lights. The fields
will be available on a first come first, serve basis. Peter requested
that coaches for U-8 and U-10 teams get together and arrange schedules
to have two games played under the lights at the same time. Peter would
like feedback from our U-8 coaches on the direction of small-sided soccer.
Issues being looked at included size of the goal, field, number of players
on the field and roster size. Peter would like ideas to present to CDYSL
to help shape the direction of small-sided soccer. Spring Rec. sign
ups will be held Saturday, January 31st and February 7th from 9 AM to
noon at Town Hall. The fee is $20 per child.
TREASURER: IKarl will be away in February,
if you need patches or a check see Peter. Read a thank you card from
Pete Sands for the framed photo presented to him at the December meeting.
PREMIER LEAGUE: No teams will be in Region 1 this season. The
CPP U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-18 boys teams will play in the Northeast
Region. Mich is still looking for correct e-mail addresses for five
of our teams, please check with her after the meeting.
CDYSL: Team placement forms are due January 16th. Scholarship
applications are due January 31. They have less than 20 applications
as of their last meeting. Applications are available on their web site
http://www.cdysl.org/docs/scholar04.doc. Select program was discussed.
Tryout information and dates are posted on their web site. No recruiting
of players is allowed during the season. Evaluators will be needed for
tryouts and the program is looking for a location to hold practices.
Permission to travel within Region 1 (Virginia to Maine) may not be
required in the future. This was changed at the October ENY meeting
but has not been put into effect yet. Peter Collins, a long time officer
and supporter of soccer within ENY, has stepped down. CDYSL is offering
coaching education, using your own facility is the most economical way
to go. Small-sided soccer information is available on CDYSLs web
site. They are looking to come out with final recommendations early
this year. A new referee chapter has been established, they are in need
of referees. They plan on having referees work with assistant referees.
The CDYSL web site is to be updated. Westenhook United Soccer (S. Berkshire)
wants to have three teams play in CDYSL; an U-19 boys premier, U-19
girls premier and U-17 boys developmental team. They are willing to
travel to mutual fields for games. The Lake Placid Soccer Club wants
affiliation with CDYSL like Plattsburgh; they are seeking association
membership only. They may have to become full members with a stipulation
on not participating in league play in order to travel to Canada and
Vermont to play. They are interested in starting a northern tier league.
U-19 girls and boys have had a problem with players/teams not showing
up. They are looking for suggestions to make this work.
REGISTRAR: Nothing to report.
TOURNAMENT: Each team needs an Ad Coordinator to work on the
Tournament book. As of this meeting, only three names have been forwarded
to Janet. Peter emphasized the importance of this role and stated that
we hold these meeting to get out important information to coaches and
teams. Coaches, please appoint someone immediately. If Teams still do
not have Ad Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator information submitted
within two weeks, Peter will recommend to the Board that we turn their
$400 tournament checks over to the Advertising Committee for ads in
the booklet. Janet Cody can be reached at 877-8357 or acm2ej@aol.com.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 24th at 6:30 PM.
VOLUNTEER: Liz is missing Volunteer Coordinator information for
three teams. Every team is required to have a Volunteer Coordinator.
Liz will try to contact these teams directly for the information. Teams
have two weeks to provide this information to Liz, she can be reached
at lizk@nycap.rr.com or 383-0180.
COACHING COMMITTEE: Nothing to report
INDOOR: Sunday, February 1st is not listed on our Shen Facility
Use Forms; this appears to be a mistake. Gyms should be available, Frank
will check with the School to confirm this. Reminder, Gowanna is only
available from 2:30 to 4 PM on February 8th.
JUNIOR REFEREES: The referee course
for the upcoming spring rec league will be offered to any students in
the Shen District who are in grade 7 or above. The course for first
time referees will be held at the Club House for three consecutive weeks
as follows: Boys will start Monday, March 22nd from 7 to 8:30 PM and
Girls Wednesday, March 17th from 7 to 8:30 PM. Experienced coaches meet
one night on Tuesday, March 18th from 7 to 7:45 PM. Bring a pen or pencil.
If you have questions, call Pete Sand at 371-8144.
OLD BUSINESS: Nothing to report
NEW BUSINESS: The U-17 girls are interested in trading their
practice time, as it conflicts with their league games this session.
They practice at Gowana on Sundays from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. We have open
time at Orenda on Saturdays but this is a very small gym. It was suggested
she contact the U-18 boys team to work out a possible switch.
